Business Honors:
Student Internship Spotlight

Hear from some of our Business Honors students about their internship experiences!

Tiffany Vo

2025 Cohort KPMG Audit Intern (Summer 2024) and Embark Intern (Summer 2023)
Tiffany Vo
My favorite experience from both of my internships is meeting new people and making new friends. I still keep in contact with my friend groups from Summer 2023 and 2024! A majority of us will be starting full-time together at the LA office.
Tiffany Vo

How did you receive this internship?

I leveraged my network through BH and Beta Alpha Psi. Through BAP, I was able to gain many connections not only to KPMG but all the other Big 4 firms. I was also paired with mentors who guided me through the recruitment process.

What were your responsibilities?

With the Embark internship, I had the opportunity to rotate in Audit, Tax, and Advisory. I really appreciated that KPMG offered a rotational internship because it allowed me to explore various career opportunities that I hadn’t previously considered. At the end of Summer 2023, I decided to pursue a career in audit. I was grateful to receive a return offer for Summer 2024 as an Audit intern, where I served clients from the food and consumer goods industry, technology, and auto manufacturing.

How did this internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?

The obvious contribution is adding something “worthwhile” or relative to my career aspirations onto my resume. Additionally, the internships have taught me how to function in workplace environments and navigating corporate dynamics that are not taught in the classrooms, AT ALL! Doing your first internship means you’ll face a big learning curve, not only with technical but also (and arguably, most importantly) your soft skills. An internship is a stepping stone to your career, as well as your professional development.

Kathleen Huynh

2026 Cohort Techtronic Industries: Field Sales and Marketing Intern Summer 2024
Kathleen Huynh
Meeting people! I loved getting to know my fellow interns, full time representatives, mentors (field and corporate), and senior level managers!
Kathleen Huynh

Please provide background on how you received this internship.

I found the internship through networking at the CSUF Fall Career Expo.

Can you briefly describe your responsibilities and tasks in this role?

Field Sales and Marketing Representatives and Interns work as vendors in Home Depot to sell Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Ridgid power tools. I supported the promotional marketing of TTI products by placing points of purchase around the store to ensure it catches customer attention while cleaning and maintaining our products. I utilized and built my sales pitch to sell merchandise and grow and strengthen my B2C relationships. I worked on many projects to promote and advertise new products and great deals for the hardware and gardening power tools such as setting up weekly sales tables and demoing products for customers.

How did this internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?

I believe this internship grew my public speaking skills and helped me get out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed learning both hard and soft skills by using new software programs and knowing how to tailor each customer's experience to their personal interest.

Grace Gorman

2025 Cohort PwC: Audit Intern 2024
Grace Gorman
My biggest takeaway from this internship was the connections I made in my office. Whether it was my superiors or fellow interns, I really feel like my professional network doubled in size in just one summer. I even met a BH alumni on my team - Alyssa Yung!
Grace Gorman

Please provide background on how you received this internship.

Through help with BH peers (miss BAP president Tiffany Vo), connected me with PwC's campus recruiter Katie Fator. I received an offer during Summer 2023 for the START internship, and then a return offer for Summer 2024 Advance Internship.

Can you briefly describe your responsibilities and tasks in this role?

The Advance Internship was more specialized by sector, so I was in an audit position for the television, media, and telecommunications sector. I was assigned to a couple different teams where I learned the roles of an auditor, as well as working with real client data. The roles of an auditor include examining a company's financial records, transactions, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to accounting standards.

How did this internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?

This internship contributed to my personal growth by giving me the confidence to apply what I have been studying in school to actual work. I was grateful to be given the opportunity to enhance not only my hard skills, but also my soft skills. This includes communication and problem solving, and this internship will definitely put them to the test.

Geneveve Castaneda

2026 Cohort NBCU: Global Distribution, Marketing and Human Resources - Special Projects Intern Summer 2024
Geneveve Castaneda
I really enjoyed working with my team everyday. Everyone was so nice and helpful to showing me around the business.
Geneveve Castaneda

Please provide background on how you received this internship.

I just applied on the NBCU careers website. I used the help of CBE resources and BH people to prepare me for my application/interview.

Can you briefly describe your responsibilities and tasks in this role?

I was in charge of two main projects: creating a volunteer event for the department and creating a restaurant portfolio for the Marketing/ Sales team. Every day included a lot of research on local organizations we could collaborate with, as well as restaurants that could host our Sales team.

How did this internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?

I got a better grasp for the duties of an HR department for an entertainment company, and made me consider this career further.
