My favorite experience from this internship is getting to work with my amazing team. They have all contributed such positive moments and endless support through my internship.
I booked a job search appointment with an advisor at CSUF Business Career Services, where she helped me find this job posting.
I assist the Human Resources Talent Acquisition team with full-cycle recruitment of coach operators for OCTA. On a daily basis, I screen applications, contact prospective candidates to schedule interviews, launch background screenings, or get in contact with candidates to ensure conditional hiring is going smoothly. Additionally, I work with the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialists to perform a closed-position audit report on all the new hiring, promotional, or lateral recruitments at OCTA.
This internship has helped me build on my technical skills by learning various applicant tracking systems, but also my soft skills such as time management, communication, and detail-orientation.
My favorite experience from my internship was being treated like a real asset to the team and being trusted with serious work. I felt that was more valuable than anything else because I got an unfiltered view of working in public accounting.
I got my internship offer by consistently taking advantage of professional development opportunities, whether that was through the Business Honors Program, Beta Alpha Psi, classes I was taking, or the Women's Leadership Program. I met the Armanino recruiter at Accounting Fest, which started the process of getting to know the firms and meeting professionals from the OC office.
Armanino interns are given the same responsibilities of a Staff 1 or someone who has just started full time. I worked on a new client every week, which gave me exposure to different industries and different phases of the auditing process. I worked with the seniors, managers, partners, and clients to complete all sorts of audit tasks from pre-fieldwork planning to testing, and even going to client sites to conduct physical inventory counts.
I gained technical skills, such as learning Alteryx and got better at Excel. I learned a lot about audit, of course. My communication skills also improved, which helped me learn faster and be a better teammate. I also got to experience yearly audit training with the entire SoCal team and office celebrations. These skills and experiences will help me transition to public accounting after graduation.
I really enjoyed working with my team everyday. Everyone was so nice and helpful to showing me around the business.
I utilized current BH students and alumni who have previously interned with NBCUniversal (shoutout Geneveve and Phoebe!), gathering their advice and insights into the application and interview process. I also reached out to former NBCU interns around the office on LinkedIn, scheduling coffee chats and collecting their inputs too. Other than that, I fully cold applied to this role with no referrals or partnering organizations so it’s completely doable!
I dive into market research and audience insights for all of our Universal theatrical titles! Working on films likes Wicked: For Good, Five Nights at Freddy's 2, and Super Mario Galaxy, I use platforms in conducting ad-testing for trailers and spots, analysis on campaign performance, and write up competitive landscape reports. I also regularly work with the Creative Advertising, Digital Marketing, and Analytics teams to carry out data-informed marketing strategies.
This experience played a pivotal role in my personal growth within the entertainment and media industry and helped narrow my interest in pursuing data-driven research within marketing. Being consistently surrounded by and in conversation with professionals in the entertainment sphere has given me invaluable insight into the industry and has significantly shaped my career aspirations.
My favorite experience from this internship was either watching the Sound of Music at the Kennedy Center or kayaking on the Potomac River!
I first learned of this internship after receiving an email from University Honors. After filling out the application and completing a multiple-step interview process, I was selected by the President Rochon and his cabinet to represent CSUF as its 2025 Panetta Intern.
I served as a Congressional aide in the office of a U.S. Representative for 11 weeks. In this role, I researched and drafted policy memoranda to support legislative staff, responded to and logged constituent phone calls, and led private tours of the U.S. Capitol.
This internship taught me there are so many different pathways for accounting majors outside of public accounting. Positions are available within the Office of Management and Budget, the IRS, and the FBI/CIA, to name a few. Gaining this knowledge has really helped me broaden my horizons and expand my career path in a way I didn't think was possible.
My favorite experience from this internship was meeting new people! I had a fun time getting to know everyone, from my team members to other interns and those across the company. I appreciate how everyone was willing to connect and share their personal experiences, as I gained valuable insights from each conversation.
I heard about the internship opportunities at NBCUniversal from an upperclassman within the BH Program and was encouraged to apply. During my application process, I received significant guidance and support from my BH peers as they reviewed my resume and conducted mock interviews to highlight my relevant skills and experiences.
During my internship, I supported the Human Resources team within the Global TV Distribution department, the business division responsible for licensing and distributing NBCUniversal’s content to global audiences. In my role as the Human Resources intern, I served as the HR business partner to 10 other department interns, facilitated intern events with the HR manager, and processed employee lifecycle materials for the HR coordinator.
This internship has equipped me with a better understanding of the HR field and provided me with hands-on experience in operating HRIS software, managing employee relations, and communicating with upper management. This role has also helped me build self-confidence as I constantly challenged myself with responsibilities that seemed intimidating yet intriguing. This provided me with experiences and knowledge that I wouldn’t have otherwise gained if I hadn’t pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
Throughout this internship, I was also assigned a team project to work on with several other KPMG Embark interns across the nation. During the process of working on the project, I got to know my teammates very well and still continue to connect with them to this day!
I attended recruiting events with Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society. I also reached out and connected with former KPMG interns.
This rotational internship allowed me to experience all three accounting practices (audit, tax, and advisory/consulting), while getting hands-on experience by working with professional teams and assisting with final deliverables for the client.
Personally, I felt my confidence and credibility grow after this internship. Professionally, my network expanded domestically, nationally, and internationally.
My favorite experience from this internship was getting to know my fellow interns, and learning from the amazing mentorship opportunities that were given to us!
I initially connected with Wedbush during the CSUF Business Career Fairs in my freshman and sophomore year.
During my internship at Wedbush, I rotated between the Supervision and Surveillance team and the Private Wealth Management team. While working in Supervision and Surveillance, I conducted a regulatory gap analysis by analyzing compliance trends in the industry. With the Private Wealth Management team, I assisted advisors and client service associates in creating market research materials to be presented to clients.
This internship was a major step in my growth as a professional because it was my first experience working in a corporate position. My work helped confirm that wealth management is where I want to be, and this experience has given me confidence as I continue to focus on wealth management and financial planning as my career. Personally, working at Wedbush showed me that having a supportive group of people around you makes all the difference. I truly enjoyed getting to know my fellow interns, and we all had valuable mentorship opportunities throughout the summer.
