CSUF Entrepreneurship Leads the Way in Social Entrepreneurship Education

At CSUF Entrepreneurship, we believe that entrepreneurship has the power to create positive social change. That's why we've made it a priority to provide our students with a robust education in social entrepreneurship. Our program has been designed to teach students how to launch and run businesses that prioritize social and environmental impact, in addition to profit.

Our approach to social entrepreneurship education is unique and highly effective. We combine cutting-edge academic courses with hands-on consulting projects that pair our students with real businesses. Through this work, our students gain invaluable experience in identifying social and environmental problems, developing innovative solutions, and implementing those solutions in the real world.

Our students also participate in a two-semester New Venture Program, where they develop and launch their own social enterprises. Throughout this program, they receive guidance and support from both academic and professional mentors with extensive experience in the social entrepreneurship space.

With our comprehensive social entrepreneurship curriculum, our students graduate with the knowledge and skills they need to make a positive impact in the world. Whether they go on to launch their own social enterprises or work within existing organizations, they are well-equipped to lead the charge for social change.

What are classes like in the CSUF Entrepreneurship concentration?

Cal State Fullerton takes entrepreneurship education to the next level by not only teaching the fundamentals but also providing hands-on experiences that prepare students for the real world. The Entrepreneurship program at CSUF is more than just classroom learning, it’s a dynamic experience that puts students in direct contact with real businesses and mentors.

Through the Student Consulting Program, each undergraduate and MBA candidate in the entrepreneurship concentration is paired with a real business for four to three consulting classes respectively. By the end of the semester, each team develops an extensive strategic report that outlines how to improve the client's business. This program has been a highlight of many alumni's educational experience as it bridges the gap between the academic world and the real one.

But that's not all! CSUF Entrepreneurship students also participate in the two-semester New Venture Program, where they develop and launch their own ventures. In the first semester, student teams develop a business plan, and by the second semester, they launch their ventures. While not every team is successful, CSUF believes that the best way to educate entrepreneurs is through actual implementation.

What sets CSUF Entrepreneurship apart is its combination of academic learning and professional mentorship. Students are taught by both academics and professionals with extensive experience in the entrepreneurial world, providing the latest techniques and battle-tested lessons. Each student team is also assigned a mentor with a background in entrepreneurship, who provides guidance and support throughout the program.
