CSUF Consulting Process

Since 1991, the CSUF Consulting program has been a leader in helping businesses of all sizes achieve their goals. Through this program, thousands of businesses have received comprehensive strategies and solutions tailored to their specific needs. It's no wonder that this program has won dozens of awards from the national Small Business Institute.

At the beginning of each semester - Spring, Summer, and Fall - CSUF Consulting teams are formed to work on projects for businesses looking to improve themselves. These teams are made up of undergraduate and some MBA students who are mentored by professionals with relevant industry experience, as well as a knowledgeable professor.

The first step for these teams is to meet with their client to discuss their goals for the project. This initial meeting sets the scope of work, and from there the teams get to work. With a focus on specific disciplines, such as Operations, Finance, Marketing, and more, or with a broader focus on the overall business strategy, CSUF Consulting teams dive into their research and analysis to create a comprehensive report for the client.

During the semester, CSUF Consulting teams work closely with their clients to develop comprehensive strategies for achieving specific business goals. Throughout the process, teams conduct at least half a dozen interviews with their clients and conduct primary and/or secondary research for their projects. As current graduating seniors or MBA students at Cal State Fullerton, team members are immersed in the latest research and knowledge in their respective fields, applying this knowledge to their clients' projects with guidance from a professor and mentor.

By the end of the semester, these projects are completed after 100 to 500 or more hours of work by each team, resulting in detailed reports of usually 100 pages or more. However, it's not just about quantity; these projects are full of creative thinking and innovative solutions for clients. In addition to the written reports, clients receive a presentation on their team's findings and discuss the team's recommendations. With the CSUF Consulting program, businesses have access to top-tier talent and resources to help them achieve their goals.
