Mr. Scott Taylor, Conrey Center for Entrepreneurship Director
Scott Taylor brings a rare blend of academic rigor, entrepreneurial grit, and global business experience to his role as Director of the Conrey Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State Fullerton.
Scott holds a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Strategy from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, where his research explores how startups navigate uncertainty and create value in emerging markets. Prior to his doctoral work, he served as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School, contributing to projects on innovation strategy, entrepreneurial pivots, and business model design in nascent industries.
Scott’s path to academia is rooted in real-world entrepreneurial experience. Over a decade ago, he founded The Regulatory Department, a consultancy that helped companies navigate complex U.S. and international regulations in the cosmetics, food, and supplement industries. The firm supported hundreds of companies—from startups to global brands—through formulation reviews, FDA compliance, product labeling, and international registrations. Scott successfully led the company for 11 years, selling his majority stake in 2019 and minority interest in 2024.
He also founded Direct Sell Expo, a major industry event that brought together more than 200 direct-selling companies and over 100 vendors from around the world. The expo became a premier platform for product innovation and business development in the health and wellness space, and its rights were eventually acquired by a private investor.
Earlier in his career, Scott held leadership roles in regulatory affairs and international communications at several global health and wellness companies, including Modere, XanGo, and Unicity International, where he led European communications and worked fluently in German across international teams.
Beyond his industry work, Scott has taught management communication at Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business, where he earned a reputation for helping students develop strong writing, leadership, and networking skills. He’s been described as “obsessed with learning”—a trait that informs both his research and his mentorship of aspiring entrepreneurs.
Now, at the helm of the Conrey Center for Entrepreneurship, Scott leads efforts to foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem at Cal State Fullerton and beyond. He is passionate about equipping students, founders, and community members with the tools and mindset to launch ventures that solve real problems and create lasting impact.
Mayan Jimenez, Administrator
Mayan has been instrumental in the hosting of the Titan Fast Pitch, end of semester panels, and our mentor program. She is also proving to be a great asset in working with students, professors, community members, and CSUF staff members in addition to all of her administrative duties.
One of the reasons why Mayan has proven to be an integral part of the CSUF Entrepreneurship program is because she graduated with her degree in Entrepreneurship from Cal State Fullerton in 2019. Like all of our students, Mayan participated and excelled in consulting projects with local businesses. Mayan recently earned her Masters of Professional Accountancy from UC Riverside.
In addition to her work at CSUF, Mayan enjoys going on adventures with family and friends. Whether that is skydiving or flying through the sky in a hot air balloon mayan is up for an adventure.
