How CSUF Prepares MSIS Students for a Tech-Driven Career

Posted July 18, 2025 by Daniel Coats

In today’s era of digital transformation, organizations across industries are leveraging data to drive strategic decisions and business growth—and they need professionals who can bridge the gap between business strategy and information systems.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and information systems managers—one of the primary career paths for M.S. in Information Systems (MSIS) graduates—earn a median salary of $171,200, with job growth projected at 17% over the next decade.

The Cal State Fullerton College of Business and Economics M.S in Information Systems — a dynamic, STEM-designated degree—prepares students with the skills and experience to lead in today’s tech-driven marketplace.

CSUF’s M.S. in Information Systems program offers concentrations in Business Analytics and Information Systems Management. The curriculum integrates key technologies, data analytics, and IT project management, equipping students with the tools to pursue a wide range of careers across industries.

Whether you aim to become a data analyst, database manager, systems architect, or IT consultant, CSUF’s MSIS program provides the foundation for success. The curriculum emphasizes technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership—skills employers value in today’s competitive job market. Courses are regularly updated to reflect evolving industry demands.

CSUF stands out for its emphasis on practical, hands-on learning. Students engage in labs, case studies, and group projects that simulate real-world business challenges—offering experience with live datasets that sets them apart in the job market.

The College of Business and Economics is integrating AI across the curriculum—especially in the MSIS program—preparing students for emerging trends and challenges in next-generation information systems.

The MSIS program is taught in person by a diverse faculty with academic and real-world experience in information systems, consulting, and data science. Students benefit from industry guest speakers, a global alumni network of over 79,000 Business Titans, and the perspectives of a diverse student body.

Cal State Fullerton offers robust support through Business Career Services, helping students connect with internships and job opportunities aligned with their goals. Services include personalized coaching, résumé workshops, tech-focused career fairs, alumni networking events, and employer meetups. Students also benefit from the Executive in Residence mentoring program and empowerment initiatives like the Women’s Leadership Program.
