Newly Admitted Students

Mandatory Advisement for New Students

Congratulations on your Admission! To facilitate with your admission and ensure a smooth transition into the university, all newly-admitted students at Mihaylo College are required to visit with an advisor before registering for their first semester courses. A registration hold is placed on your first semester registration until this requirement is met. For your next steps in the process please carefully review the steps below.

First-Time Freshmen

New first-time freshmen are required to attend a Freshman Orientation to remove their registration hold and transition successfully into CSUF and Mihaylo College.

  • STEP 1 — Register for the Freshman Orientation. You will automatically receive your mandatory advisement by participating in orientation and registering for your first semester during the orientation. Learn more about Freshman Orientation.

  • Optional Experience: In April, attend Welcome to CSU Fullerton Day and  learn about the many benefits of attending our university. Video:  Mihaylo WTCSUF Day

Transfer Students

Transfer students are required to complete  four steps (accept admission, complete ethics quiz, meet with an advisor and  complete the transfer orientation) upon admission to remove their registration hold and transition successfully into CSUF and Mihaylo College.

  • Step 1 — Accept Admission. All transfer students are required to accept admission before meeting with a business advisor. In addition, before the university will assign a registration date and start a review of your transcripts, students must submit their intent to attend and pay the non-refundable enrollment fee. Please go to your student portal to accept admission: www.fullerton.edu.
  • Step 2  —  Ethics Quiz. Prior to meeting with an advisor all tranfser students must complete the ethics quiz.
  • Step 3 — Mandatory Advisement with a Business Advisor. After accepting admission and prior to the transfer orientation, all students are required to meet with a Business Advisor. Students must meet with a business advisor by appointment within three weeks of receiving the welcome letter from Mihaylo College.
    • Be sure to bring a copy of your transcripts from your previous schools. For advising purposes these may be unofficial copies.
  • Step 4 — Transfer Orientation. As a new Transfer Student, you are required to complete the univeristy-wide transfer orientation requirement by either doing the In-Person Orientation or Online Transfer Overview. After attending your mandatory advising session and the completion of the transfer orientation requirement, Mihaylo Business students may begin registering independently on their scheduled registration date . Learn more about Transfer Orientation.
  • Optional Experience: In April, attend  Welcome to CSU Fullerton Day  and learn about the many benefits of attending our university. Video:  Mihaylo WTCSUF Day

International Students

International Students who are freshmen are required to participate in Freshman Orientation. International Transfer Students are required to complete an online Transfer Overview and/or sign up for Transfer Orientation. For details on your next steps, please visit the International Student Services website and download the new student checklist.

Fullerton Finish Scholars Program

You receive structured advising each semester and priority registration. For more details and how to apply please visit the Fullerton Finish website at  http://www.fullerton.edu/aac/fullerton_finish/

Articulation Agreements

Cal State Fullerton has established transfer equivalencies for business courses at community colleges in neighboring areas. If you would like to see a complete articulation for the entire state of California, please visit the Assist web site at www.assist.org.

Understanding your Catalog Year

Students who have the fall 2018 and after Catalog Years will follow a new General Education curriculum. General education provides the foundation of a university education. You can review Academic Advising's information sheet to better understand Catalog Year. If you have any questions, please contact Josh Loudon, Associate Director for the Academic Advising Center in UH-125, at jloudon@fullerton.edu

Understanding your Catalog Rights

The CSU and CSUF occasionally modify graduation requirements. If you have been in continuous attendance, you may choose to meet the CSUF campus graduation requirements in the CSUF Catalog that was in effect in any of the three following instances:

  1. At the time you began attendance at CSUF, OR if you are an upper division transfer student, at the time you began continuous attendance at the California Community College,   OR
  2. At the time you transferred to the CSU campus,  OR
  3. At the time you graduate from the CSU campus.

By maintaining continuous attendance and selecting option (1) or (2), you can be assured that your CSU campus graduation requirements will not change. Your right to choose one of these options is called "catalog rights." Additional details about Catalog Rights and Student Responsibilities are found  online in the catalog.

Example:  If you are a new first-time freshman in fall 2018, then your assigned catalog year is 2018 (2018-2019). If you are a new transfer student in fall 2018 continuously enrolled in a community college since fall 2015 or spring 2016, then your appropriate catalog year is 2015 (2015-2016)OR 2018 (2018-2019).
