
U.S. News & World Report has ranked Cal State Fullerton as second in the nation for social mobility out of more than 400 national universities listed in its 2024 Best Colleges ranking. That is a jump from seventh place last year.
Other ranking systems are also taking note.
The Wall Street Journal has put CSUF in seventh place for Best Value, recognizing the university’s commitment to keeping costs low and putting graduates on a career-focused path.
With inflation, inequality and student debt at the forefront, social mobility and financial value are becoming the focus of college rankings in this decade.
In September, U.S. News & World Report updated its rankings formula, emphasizing factors such as enrolling and graduating students from all backgrounds without high debt loads and post-graduation career success. Less emphasized are class size, faculty with terminal degrees, alumni giving, high school class standing and the proportion of graduates who borrow federal loans as signs of an achieving school.
Cal State Fullerton has been ahead of the curve for years, long recognized for affordability and preparing students for specific careers.
