Many students considering an online degree worry that they might miss out on the same support and opportunities available to on-campus students. At Cal State Fullerton College of Business and Economics, students in the online B.A. in Business Administration degree-completion program receive the same high-quality resources, guidance, and professional development as traditional students — all with the flexibility of online learning. Here are some of the many resources that help our online business students thrive academically and professionally.
Business Career Services
Business Career Services helps both online and on-campus CSUF business students prepare for career readiness, which is especially useful for online business students who are seeking advancement opportunities or to switch careers completely. The center guides students through career options, building their personal brand, and developing a plan to pursue any job they want through resume and CV reviews, interview preparation, career exploration, and career fairs.
The center is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. Enrolled online business students interested in scheduling an online appointment should download the free Handshake app and navigate to the Handshake Appointment tool.
Study Abroad
All CSUF students have the opportunity to enrich their learning by studying abroad. Online business students have the opportunity to complete their MGMT 449 seminar requirement through CSUF Study Abroad in China instead of online. This translates into gaining global perspectives about business strategies and the economy. On top of it all, many study abroad students have reported that being exposed to new cultures has driven their personal development.
This past summer, two students from the Online B.A. in Business Administration program participated in MGMT 449 in China, where they learned about the Chinese economy and saw the real-world application of what they learned in their classes. The students found a lot of value in the experience, both professionally and personally.
Students should speak with an online business academic advisor for more information.
Academic Support Options
For online business students in need of additional academic support, there are a few options.
First, peer tutoring for several courses in the online business program is available online and in-person through the Business Tutoring Center. This is a free supplemental support resource for students. Enrolled students may request an appointment through the Business Tutoring Center website.
Next, students are also strongly encouraged to proactively communicate with their professors when they need additional help understanding course concepts. Online business faculty hold dedicated office hours to meet with students, and many courses in the online business program include embedded teaching assistants who serve as tutors for students needing support.
Finally, online business students can also take advantage of online access to academic support resources offered by the University Learning Center and the CSUF Writing Center.
Disability Support Services
Cal State Fullerton offers opportunities for online business students living and learning with permanent or temporary disabilities to apply for academic accommodations through Disability Support Services. Depending on each student’s situation, this may include additional time to complete assignments/exams and/or access to assistive technologies.
Academic Advisors
Online B.A. in Business Administration students have a team of professional, dedicated academic advisors walking beside them on their pathway to graduation. The advisors understand the unique needs of busy online students, from the application process to registration questions to navigating challenges along their journey. Students can book an advising appointment via Zoom or email [email protected] with questions.
