Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Accounting Concentration

The Accounting concentration offers a well-rounded business education that prepares students for career in a variety of fields in accountancy, including auditing, taxation, corporate, international, nonprofit, and governmental accounting, and accounting information systems. It also prepares students for graduate programs such as a Master degree in Accountancy or Taxation. Infused with innovative ideas and advice from the Department of Accounting Advisory Board, the curriculum will provide students with the most current knowledge and skill sets in the fields of accountancy and business.

Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Joint Emphasis in Accounting and Finance

A combined program in both accounting and finance provides a student with the background to pursue careers in accounting and/or finance, including positions in public accounting, corporate accounting, insurance, real estate, banking, financial planning, and corporate finance. Accounting firms are eager to employ students with a combined accounting and finance background for positions in auditing, financial reporting, and business advisory services.

Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Joint Emphasis in Accounting and Information Systems

The Accounting and Information Systems joint emphasis brings together the skill sets of two interdependent disciplines that are experiencing rapid change and growth. Many traditional accounting functions are now embodied in information systems. Today’s accounting professional will benefit from more extensive education in general and specialized aspects of information systems, including information technology, database management, information security and privacy, and enterprise-wide integrated business process systems. Similarly, today’s information systems professional will benefit from a strong education in accounting when analyzing, designing, and developing business systems. The Accounting and Information Systems joint emphasis prepares students for specialized careers in accounting, auditing, consulting, business analysis, and management.

Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Accounting and Business Analytics Concentration

The Accounting and Business analytics concentration is intended to provide students with strong foundational knowledge for applying analytics in the fields of accountancy and business. Business analytics are heavily relied on by the accounting industry for internal and external audit planning and execution, risk assessment, and consulting. Students successfully completing this concentration should be able to analyze, synthesize, and communicate data-intensive business information to a variety of constituents including the clients and regulatory bodies. The curriculum will provide students with tools that cover descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics for solving a variety of complex business problems.
