Two current Titan Capital Management (TCM) investment students and one recent alumnus have passed the prestigious chartered financial analyst exam Level I this past November, opening the doors to impactful and rewarding careers in finance. The achieving Cal State Fullerton College of Business and Economics students are Dylan Nguyen ’25 and Luke Knudson ’25, along with recent grad Jacob Pesicka ’24.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for these students, as they have done significant independent study of several hundred hours while in school or outside work to achieve this,” says Finance Lecturer Kelly Ko, one of the directors of the TCM program. “Dylan and Luke are on this year’s CFA Investment Research Challenge team as well, so the amount of commitment to the program, classes, internships and pursuing the charter should be highly commended!”
Knudson explains that passing the exam means more than proficiency in technical concepts. “It has taught me more discipline and given me a deeper commitment to finance,” he says. “I believe this credential will strengthen my future by signaling my dedication to upholding the highest standards in capital allocation.”
Nguyen points to the in-depth understanding that studying for the exam provided, a journey of many months that was well worth the effort. “It helped me build a very strong understanding of foundational finance concepts and brought me closed to pursuing roles within the investment world,” he says. “I highly recommend this experience to those driven to take the next step in their financial careers and expand their opportunities, especially given the scholarship opportunities that CSUF offers.”
From five-peating as first-place finishers at the local Investment Research Competition to the new state-of-the-art trading lab that debuted last year to an ever-increasing cohort of alumni renowned in the financial industry at all levels, Titan Capital Management has solidified its status as the leading applied investment program on the West Coast.
