Why CSUF Accounting?
CSUF Accounting represents one of the largest undergraduate accounting programs in the nation, with over 1,000 currently enrolled Accounting majors. Our program is AACSB accredited, which alone sets us apart in Orange County. Only two other schools in Southern California and only 4% of accounting departments in the U.S. have earned this distinction.
We offer a cutting edge curriculum. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are built on three core principles: bringing real world knowledge into the classroom, leveraging technology to deliver education, and integrating analytics throughout our curriculum. For those desiring to pursue technology in the curriculum, we offer undergraduate concentrations in both information systems and data analytics.
Our graduate programs include a joint Master of Accounting and Finance, a Master of Accounting (MSA), which provides our students an attractive option for satisfying the CPA education requirements as mandated by the State, and a Master of Taxation (MST), which offers a highly relevant curriculum taught by eminent practitioners.
Our focus is on students! We offer enhanced learning experience through paid internships, independent study, and student group activities. Furthermore, a number of scholarships and awards are available each semester for deserving students. Each year the student groups sponsor "Meet the Firms" and an "Industry Night," which provide beneficial networking opportunities for students and professional representatives from the accounting community. Public accounting firms in the area also formally recruit on the campus.
Our faculty are active in research and have published in the best journals in accounting. They work closely with graduate students in academic and industry focused research.
Our department and students have earned numerous distinctions. CSUF Accounting is only one of a handful of universities offering an Internal Audit Certificate in partnership with the Institute of Internal Auditors' (IIA)
Internal Auditing Education Partnership Program
.
Finally, our location in the heart of dynamic Orange County provides unique job-market opportunities for our students. With a county-wide population of over 3 million - the 6th largest county in the U.S. - and a substantial corporate presence including several Fortune 500 companies (Disney, Ingram Micro, First American Corporation, Broadcom, Western Digital, and the Pacific Life, etc.), CSUF Accounting students are provided unique, invaluable access to some of the largest and most successful companies in the nation.
