With a Focus on Student Success, Finance Pro Steven Wang is the New Managing Director for Titan Capital Management

The past year has been an exciting one for the investment students in the student-managed Titan Capital Management fund at Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics.

The opening of a new state-of-the-art trading lab. Five-peating as winners of the CFALA Research Challenge featuring teams of students from across the Los Angeles metropolitan region.

And now the Titan Capital Management program has a new managing director: Steven Wang, an expert investment professional with nearly two decades of experience spanning the Great Recession, COVID, the rise of AI and much more.

Wang managed a $20 billion mortgage portfolio at CYS Investments, was in charge of quantitative fixed income strategies and analytics at Morgan Stanley, and structured more than 20 mortgage and student loan deals at JP Morgan.

Additionally, Wang has been a board member at the Society Los Angeles  of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute for the past three years. Currently, he is vice president at the chapter.

Now, Wang’s focus is helping the finance students of Cal State Fullerton thrive with the latest acumen and insights.

“Investing is an exciting and nonstop industry, where young professionals can learn so much in their early career that will benefit them for the rest of their lives,” explains Wang. “The education at TCM will prepare students with essential skills to be ready for the new challenges of our time.”

As managing director, Wang’s goals are to help students get more connected with the finance and investment industries for additional hands-on expertise in the workplace. He also hopes to increase the profile of TCM at Cal State Fullerton and beyond, which will require the support of stakeholders such as alumni and the college’s business network.

“To continue our program’s success, we need support from all parties. Any amount of donation and any level of support – from mentoring, guest lecturing to internship opportunities – can help the TCM program become a little better as we see the continued evolution of the program,” says Wang.
