When the world’s leading scholarly association of risk management and insurance academics sought a new president, they turned to Cal State Fullerton’s School of Risk Management and Insurance – one of the largest and strongest risk management and insurance programs in the western United States.
Weili Lu, the longtime director of the school and a member of the CSUF finance faculty for more than 25 years, is the new president of the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA). She is the first Asian woman to hold this position. Her term runs for 2023-2024.
Established in 1932, ARIA is dedicated to advancing the study and promotion of risk management and insurance as both a professional path and field of study. Conferences, publications, and recognitions and awards are regularly held under the auspices of this organization.
“We believe that Dr. Weili Lu’s presidency at ARIA is a testament not only to her personal achievements but also to the continued growth and excellence of our risk management and insurance program at Cal State Fullerton,” says finance professor and associate director of the insurance school Xiaoying Xie.
“As the president of ARIA, Dr. Lu will continue working collaboratively with association members to provide networking, information, recognition, and support to our students. We are excited to share this remarkable accomplishment with our community and the broader sphere of academia.”
