With a commitment to a high-tech, data-focused world-class accounting education, Cal State Fullerton’s School of Accountancy at the College of Business and Economics is the premier West Coast destination for an affordable, accessible and high-quality accounting education.
As the only program specifically accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for accounting education in Orange County, the school and the broader college are among only a small percentage of business education institutions globally with accredited accounting education in addition to business administration accreditation.
In fall 2024, three new professors are joining the faculty of the school, a new generation of thought leaders, instructors and researchers committed to keeping Cal State Fullerton accounting education current.
“We welcome each of these three new faculty members and look forward to the impact they will make on future generations of students and as researchers for the business community and academia,” says Vivek Mande, director of the School of Accountancy. “These professors exemplify our commitment to building and maintaining a data-driven, AI-focused curriculum centered on meeting the future demands of the accounting industry and the evolving world of technology.”

Chungyool Kim
A Ph.D. and master’s alumnus of the University of Iowa, Chungyool Kim has research interests in corporate disclosures, corporate governance, and the impact of social media on information dissemination in the corporate reporting field.
His co-authored dissertation study, “Strategic Use of Executives’ Social Media and Personal Equity Incentives” is undergoing review in The Accounting Review, one of the top peer-reviewed academic journals in the accounting world.
Other academic projects in-progress for Kim include a study on corporate officer litigation risk and evidence from labor union negotiations on the impacts of strategic disclosure.
Prior to pursuing a higher education, Kim served in the U.S. military in his native South Korea.

Shuqing Huang
Disclosure incentives, the use of financial and non-financial information by stakeholders; enforcement mechanisms; and the interdisciplinary study of accounting, law and strategy are the research foci of New York University Stern School of Business doctoral alumna Shuqing Huang.
Huang’s working papers include studies on the influence of environmental disclosure mandates on the formation of environmentally-focused strategic alliances between firms, the impact of private litigation on SEC investigations, and the impact of adding ESG expertise to corporate boards.
With more than three years of teaching experience and five years of conference presentations, Huang stands ready to educate the next generation of Cal State Fullerton accounting students on the best practices in the accounting and corporate governance fields.

Shuting Wu
After earning her Ph.D. in accounting from Michigan State University earlier this year, Shuting Wu is California-bound, preparing to focus on cryptocurrency, voluntary disclosure and behavioral economics at the Cal State Fullerton School of Accountancy.
Her dissertation, “When Analysts Meet Crypto: Evidence from Corporate Disclosure,” examines corporate governance of cryptocurrency portfolios.
Last year, Wu taught an online section of a financial accounting course at Michigan State’s Broad College of Business, preparation for the hybrid pedagogical environment that has become the norm at CSUF’s College of Business and Economics.
From working papers on the impact of sleep loss on analyst herding to biases in management earnings forecasts, Wu applies textual analysis and machine learning in her research and demonstrates the breadth and diversity in subject matter that the School of Accountancy is renowned for.
