The Cal State Fullerton Business Titan family is mourning the loss of longtime marketing lecturer Robert Jones, who passed away late last year. He was 78.
Jones served as lecturer from 1973 to 2004, during which time the College of Business and Economics and Department of Marketing grew exponentially from a small regional university to the business education hub of the West Coast.
Prior to his Titan service, Jones worked in retail marketing, a background he brought to bear in the courses he taught to several generations of students. As an instructor of a retail marketing course, Jones led students on field trips to Tiffany & Co., providing a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the iconic high-end retail business.
Jones’ legacy lives on through the Marketing Honors Networking Program, which he founded. The program brings together high-achieving marketing students and executives from local companies for two networking breakfasts each year.
Within the department, Jones was a mentor to new faculty and students. In his honor, alumnus Peter Pheng Young ’98 will establish the Robert Jones Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 award for a junior or senior business student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher focused on retail marketing. Applicants may be interviewed by Zoom or in person. For more information on the scholarship, reach out to the Department of Marketing at [email protected].
