Meaningful Assessment Design
There are many reasons that we assess student learning. The key to successful and rewarding assessment is to find meaning in the process. Both the reasons why we assess and the approaches we use are key to meaningful assessment design.

Dr. Laura Massa
Dr. Laura Massa is the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs and the WASC Senior College and University Commission Accreditation Liaison Officer at Cal Poly Pomona. She volunteers as a WSCUC reviewer, and has facilitated several workshops for WSCUC on assessment and the accreditation process. Prior to joining CPP, she served as Director of Assessment at Loyola Marymount University for 10 years. In addition to leading institution-level assessment at LMU, she provided educational resources and support for academic program assessment, general education assessment, academic program development and review, and disciplinary accreditation. Dr. Massa is the author of Meaningful and Manageable Program Assessment: A How-To Guide for Higher Education Faculty.
