Prospective Students
Anticipating the next generation of who's who in business
- Richard K. Davis '83, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Bancorp
"Forward-thinking and future-focused." That's how Richard Davis '83 describes Mihaylo College today.
Like many students, Davis attended his Mihaylo College classes after working full days-as a bank teller. Today, he's chairman, president, and CEO of U.S. Bancorp, the parent company of U.S. Bank, one of the largest commercial banks in the United States. "The depth and breadth of the program blew me away," he says. "I took away knowledge that was relevant to real life and skills that were essential in the business world."
Returning to campus to speak at the Economic Forecast Conference and lead a class as Professor for a Day, Davis was impressed by how the College had made the growing diversity of its student body a core strength. "This is one of the few business schools in the nation that's totally aligned with its community." he says. "The College truly embraces students from every background and stage of life, and makes it possible for them to immerse themselves in all the business disciplines."
Although he's no longer in California, Davis understands why so many of his fellow alumni remain in the region. "Orange County is one of the most prosperous and dynamic counties in the country." he says. "And making business connections is part of their education."
With the opening of Mihaylo Hall, he adds, the College's reputation as the business school for emerging leaders will be secured. "Mihaylo Hall is built for the future," he says. "Just like the school itself."
