M.S. Accountancy – Cohort

With the need for accounting professionals increasing, the MS Accountancy – Cohort will prepare you to start your professional career in public accounting. In only 10 months, students can complete the additional 30 units needed to be CPA eligible while defraying the cost through an optional internship or full-tuition scholarships. This innovative cohort-based Master’s in Accounting program begins in early August and ends in May. It includes leadership and professional development opportunities, an optional full-time winter internship, a CPA prep course and plenty of networking opportunities.

The Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program is collaborating with 25 colleges and universities across the US to help diversify the CPA profession. Together, these schools and the Deloitte Foundation are providing a limited number of full scholarships (100% of tuition and academic fees will be covered excluding books and living expenses) for selected students interested in pursuing a fifth-year master’s degree in accounting, master of tax, or master of accounting with a concentration in audit, advisory, or tax for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Curriculum:

As an MS in Accountancy student, you will be required to take a total of 30 units, a minimum of 24 such units being at the graduate (500) level, and earn a minimum GPA of 3.0. Please visit the University Catalog for course descriptions and prerequisites.

Prerequisites and Admission Requirements

The accounting master’s degree requires students to submit the following:

  • Completion of all accounting prerequisite courses as listed in the University Catalog

  • Completed or in-progress summer internship with an accounting firm OR being part of the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars program (strongly recommended)

  • GMAT or GRE not required, but strongly recommended for applicants with GPAs of less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Professional résumé

  • Statement of purpose

  • Official transcripts from your undergrad program or previous graduate education

  • International students must also take one of the following three tests:

    • TOEFL: minimum 88

    • IELTS: minimum 7

    • PTE: minimum 65

    • Duolingo: minimum 120
