The Sales Leadership Center at the Cal State Fullerton College of Business and Economics hosted the Titan Sales Competition on Dec. 6, 2024, giving 52 registered student competitors an opportunity to get out of their comfort zones and present to judges from the business world. The top three winners received scholarships of up to $750 to help fund the remainder of their academic journey. All participants gained invaluable experience in the art of selling and networking with business professionals.
This year’s event involved a sales scenario role play for Daikin, a HVAC systems manufacturer. Support from Daikin employees, including business alumnus and current MBA student Ezequiel Pena ’20, ’25, an area sales manager for Daikin, made the competition possible.
Taking first place was senior Hiba Mughal ’25, a marketing and computer science undergrad. Coming in second and third, respectively, were undergrad seniors Adrianne Santa Isabel ’25 (marketing) and Jake Austin ’25 (marketing).
“The Titan Sales Competition truly simulates a real-world sales presentation and offers a tangible application what we have been learning through sales classes at CSUF,” says first-place winner Mughal. “I would highly recommend other students to take this opportunity to apply what you’ve learned and see where you can improve in selling.”
Second –place winner Isabel also agrees about the positive impact of participation. “The competition, although nerve wracking, was a very humbling experience that gave me hope in taking on new ventures and trying my hardest in all of them. Thank you again to my professor, fellow classmates, and loved ones for all the support and encouragement in the process!”
Brad Anderson, director of the Sales Leadership Center, emphasized the practical impact of the annual Titan Sales Competition, which had the most competitors ever in 2024. “The Titan Sales Competition, hosted by the Sales Leadership Center, is a dynamic sales presentation to build, showcase and demonstrate student sales skills,” he says. “It is a competition among CSUF students to get out of their comfort zones and present to buyers before judges from sponsor companies, all the while earning scholarships and experience.”
