Cal State Fullerton is celebrating the news that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), the higher education arm of the most esteemed educational accreditor in the western United States, has granted the university a full and maximum 10-year accreditation.

Accreditation by this non-governmental body solidifies student and parent confidence in Cal State Fullerton, eases academic credit transfer, expands financial aid options, and supports the positive reputation of the university within the community.

Adherence to the Handbook of Accreditation, which examines quality assurance and educational effectiveness, along with compliance with state and federal laws, are factors in granting accreditation.

“One of the WSCUC senior leaders informed us that only a very small percentage of the institutions they review earn the full, maximum 10-year accreditation — putting CSUF in exceptional territory,” says Fram Virjee, Cal State Fullerton’s president.

The honor comes just one year after the university’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics maintained dual accreditation – of both the business school generally and its accounting education program specifically – for an additional five years from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the most respected business school accrediting body.
