Orange County, California, continues to be a top-notch place for accounting grads to start their careers!
In a new article in the Orange County Business Journal about the health of the local job market – with a focus on the accounting sector – it was reported that 48 of the largest firms on the journal’s list of local accounting companies reported an 11% increase in local hires.
That means 6,676 new accounting employees were added in 2022. 81% of the firms on the list reported increases in staffing, with 46% increasing their workforce by more than 10% last year alone.
Among the top firms in Orange County is Big Four accounting giant Deloitte. They saw a 12% increase in employee headcount in 2022, on top of the 15% growth back in 2021 as the company expanded from the pandemic doldrums. Companywide, the global company’s staff reached 415,000, up 20% in one year.
Dozens of new hires at Deloitte are from the accounting and other business programs at Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics, including business analyst Karissa Dole ’23 and finance grad Mona Makam ’23.
