In a recognition of the strength of business research at Cal State Fullerton, academic publishing company Elsevier included five professors from the CSUF College of Business and Economics among its listings of the top 2% of globally-cited scholars.
Elsevier is among the world’s largest scholarly journal publication houses, producing more than 2,600 titles across many disciplines, including business, management, economics and information systems. They publish two annual rankings of top scholars: one focused on career publication output and metrics and the other focused on the most recent year, which at present is 2020.
The company’s recognition of the impact of our faculty’s research demonstrates their expertise and high standing among their academic peers across the world.
Here’s a look at the business faculty who made the lists and how their research is making an impact.
Ofir Turel
Information Systems Professor Ofir Turel was recognized both for his research mentions in 2020 and citations received throughout his academic career. Turel focuses on the intersection between information technology, psychology and neuroscience, with groundbreaking studies on the impact of technology addiction, the benefits and drawbacks of the metaverse, and the impact of social networks during the COVID-19 pandemic, among other topics. From local media to Yahoo News, Turel is regularly consulted as a voice to make information systems topics accessible to lay and business audiences.

From authoring the influential 1995 book, Facility Location: A Survey of Applications and Methods, to bringing his computer expertise to bear for the Israeli Defense Forces in his earlier career, Drezner has made a significant impact on the world of computing for more than half a century. In 2015, Drezner was the recipient of the L. Donald Shields Excellence in Scholarship and Creativity Award, Cal State Fullerton’s top faculty research recognition.
