Declaring a Concentration

NOTE: All students must complete the Ethics Requirement before an application to declare a concentration can be submitted. For more information about the Ethics Requirement, please go to: http://business.fullerton.edu/programs/undergraduate/?goto=Ethics

All students in the College of Business and Economics first enter their major as pre-business, pre-economics or pre-international business majors, whether they are entering freshmen, transfers or returning students.

Students whose major is pre-business, pre-economics or pre-international business are eligible to declare their upper-division concentration once the common lower-division core courses are successfully completed with grades of “C” (2.0) or better. During the fall and springs semesters, students may also declare on a conditional basis if the final lower-division courses are currently in-progress (conditional declarations are not permitted in the summer). Students entering upper-division international business must also demonstrate intermediate competency in their foreign language.

The common lower-division core requirements are:
ACCT 201A Financial Accounting (3)
ACCT 201B Managerial Accounting (3)
BUAD 201 Business Writing (3)
ECON 201 Principles of Microeconomics (3)
ECON 202 Principles of Macroeconomics (3)
MGMT 246* Business & Its Legal Environment (3)
MATH 135 or 130 Business Calculus (3 or 4)

*not required for the BA in Economics major

Lower-division courses taken at other schools must be approved by CSUF as equivalent before they may be used to satisfy the above course requirements. If you have taken courses at a school in which Cal State Fullerton has an established articulation agreement, your transfer credits will appear on your TITAN Degree Audit (TDA). If you believe that you have completed required courses and they do not appear on your TDA, these transfer courses will have to be evaluated. Please come to the Business Advising Center for further instructions.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY

NOTE: All students must complete the Ethics Requirement before an application to declare a concentration can be submitted. For more information about the Ethics Requirement, please go to: http://business.fullerton.edu/programs/undergraduate/?goto=Ethics

Option 1- In-Person

After you have completed the above Ethics Requirement, you may come in-person to the Business Advising Center, at either the Fullerton campus or Irvine Center. An advisor will review your record and assist you with the application process. If transfer courses need to be evaluated, it will be done at this time.

Option 2- Online

After you have completed the above Ethics Requirement, check your TDA. As long as your TDA is up-to-date and correct, you may declare your concentration with the Online Application. If your TDA is incomplete, you will need to visit the Business Advising Center and apply in-person.
