Can you believe it? It’s already May and finals week!
Are you ready to finish the year (or your Titan journey) with style and success?
Here’s some tips to do your best.
Brain Food – It’s Real and Can Help You Excel on Tests
Affordable, accessible and tasty brain foods – foods that help you hone your mental acuity – include the following:
- Green tea
- Acai berries
- Bananas
- Fish
- Trail mix
- Oatmeal
- Dark chocolate
When eaten in moderation, your test-taking performance will be enhanced and you’ll have the stamina needed for a long day.
Best Study Spots – Finding a Quiet Place to Prepare
The College of Business and Economics has some hidden away spots that are great for peace and quiet during study. And all have free WiFi through Eduroam.
Some spots to consider:
- The orange groves on either side of the SGMH building
- Sofas on the third, fourth and fifth stories of the business college
- The foyer of SGMH on the weekends (it’s a lot quieter and the college is open during daytime hours)
And if you’re looking a bit further afield on campus, try these spots:
- The Arboretum and Botanical Gardens at Cal State Fullerton (yes, there’s WiFi out there, and even picnic tables in many spots)
- Pollak Library study spaces (includes Zoom conference spots)
- Milton Gordon Hall balcony
Finals Week Traditions
- Sell back your textbooks! Buybacks are available at Titan Shops. And for trade paperbacks, local indie bookshops such as Bookman in Orange and Half Off Books in downtown Fullerton provide other options.
- Take graduation photos if this is your last semester. The fountain in front of Langsdorf Hall is the most popular spot. But also consider numerous landscapes in the arboretum, the exterior of the business college building, the cityscape vistas from the top of the parking structures, or the Fallen David statue.
- Head to the beach with your friends and fam! Did you know that the Inland-Empire Orange County Metrolink line takes you direct to the San Clemente and Oceanside beaches! Or that OCTA Bus Route 33 takes you to Huntington Beach, direct from Downtown Fullerton?
- Talk to earlier cohorts of Titans (professors, staff, alumni, etc.) about how previous generations of Business Titans celebrated the end of school or commencement. Did you know the Undie Run was the rage in the 2010s? Or that hundreds of thousands of people would descend on campus for a one-day graduation ceremony on the weekends back in the day? These events won’t be repeated. But there’s plenty of memories online. And they make for great icebreakers with previous classes and a great way to start connecting with the 300,000+ strong alumni network we have access to as Titan alumni.
Wishing you all the best of success this finals week! You are the Titans it takes!
