The student board of directors of the Business Inter-Club Council celebrate the opening of Business Madness Week. The annual event equips students for career success and features speakers, networking opportunities and the annual Business Pageant.

Cal State Fullerton’s annual Business Madness Week begins Feb. 29, providing students with a chance to develop essential skills, network and compete for scholarships.

Want to be equipped for success in today’s workforce? Join thousands of fellow Cal State Fullerton students next week for a chance to hear from guest speakers and search for careers at this year’s Business Madness Week, beginning Feb. 29.

“Not only will the events be educational, they all have elements of challenge and excitement,” says management major Hannah Chapman ’16, president of the Business Inter-Club Council (BICC), which sponsors the week. “To mention a few highlights, students will be able to compete for scholarships, converse with alumni, watch a talent show, improve their life and career plans, play with puppies, meet company representatives and enjoy great food.”

THURSDAY, Feb. 25 – Business Madness Opening

A carnival will feature games, food, informational booths, free giveaways and a chance to bond with shelter puppies from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mihaylo Courtyard.

MONDAY, Feb. 29 – Guest Speaker Jullien Gordon

Jullien Gordon, founder of the New Higher consulting firm, enlightens millennials on how to succeed in college and beyond – without becoming a workaholic. “High performance and workaholism look the same on the outside. They both look like hard work,” he says. “The big difference is how the individual feels on the inside about who they are in relationship to their work. A high performer works hard in healthy sustainable ways and feels happy and inspired. A workaholic works hard in unhealthy unsustainable ways and feels unhappy and burned out.” Gordon’s presentation, “All Already Entrepreneurs: How to Navigate Your Career & Life with an Entrepreneurial Mindset”, is Feb. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at TSU Pavilion A & B. TUESDAY, March 1 – Networking with Alumni

Cal State Fullerton has a vast alumni network of thousands of professionals in Southern California and around the world who embrace the motto “Once a Titan, Always a Titan.” Meet alumni professionals in diverse industries at the Networking with Alumni event at the O’Brien Center (SGMH 3230) beginning at 6 p.m. The event is limited to the first 50 student attendees, so RSVP online.

WEDNESDAY, March 2 – Business Pageant

Who will be this year’s Mr. and Miss Business? The traditional school pageant meets Wall Street at the annual Business Pageant, with categories for the most professional clothing, interview skills and business knowledge judged by a panel of professionals from the Orange County community. “This event will highlight the personality and individualism of some of our student leaders,” says BICC Vice President of Administration Elisha Gupta ’17. “Representatives from a few of the business organizations will be competing in several categories and have the opportunity to showcase their business knowledge. We are especially excited for the talent portion of the event.”Cheer on your classmates on March 2 at 7 p.m. at TSU Pavilion A & B.

FRIDAY, March 4 – Business Madness Sales Competition

Looking for some scholarship money? Want to improve your sales skills? You can do both at the Business Madness Sales Competition, which features scholarship prizes of up to $1,000. Contestants will give five-minute pitches to two judges on why DISH is superior to DIRECTV, playing the role of a DISH sales representative canvassing a residential neighborhood. To register for the contest, contact Brian Dorton at [email protected], with your preferred three 10-minute time slots between 1 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. on March 4. The event will be held at SGMH 1108. A training session will be held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. at SGMH 4270.
