CSUF Business Grad Nicole Saba ’98 Honored with Congressional District Woman of the Year Award for Her Service to LA Public Schools

Posted July 24, 2018 by Daniel Coats

Nicole Saba, a 1998 CSUF marketing grad who is active as a volunteer in supporting the public schools of Los Angeles, California. Cal State Fullerton business grad Nicole Saba ’98 (marketing) was recently honored by U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) with the 28th Congressional District Woman of the Year award for her volunteer efforts to improve public schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

Saba is president of the School Site Council, the district’s governing board, where she brings a parent’s perspective to the administration of the nation’s second-largest public school system.

Saba is particularly involved in Glenfeliz Boulevard School for Advanced Studies, the school her children attend, where she has championed the integration of digital technologies into education.

“With technology being a 21st-century reality, I developed a technology vision for our neighborhood school and, with the support of the principal, it has resulted in the consistent use of iPads and Chromebooks by students throughout all grade levels,” she says. “As a classroom volunteer, I help teach computer programming, keyboarding, English language arts, the use of Google apps and math lessons using technology.”

Having received her education at Cal State Fullerton’s business college and the Anaheim Union High School District, Saba is passionate about supporting public-school educators. Her time at CSUF was particularly memorable as she developed the background to launch her marketing consulting startup and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

Saba shares her CSUF experience and how it relates to her volunteerism in a recent article she wrote in The Orange County Register.
