Alumnus Tam Nguyen ’05 and Beauty Industry of Orange County Donates Masks and Gloves to Health-care Workers

It is called “Operation: Nailing It for Health Care Workers.” Tam Nguyen ’05, a Cal State Fullerton MBA alumnus and steadfast friend of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, is helping health-care workers fighting coronavirus by donating masks and gloves used at Advance Beauty College, the Nguyen family’s business, which educates hundreds of Orange County residents for beauty industry careers.

Nguyen’s announcement was made in tandem with Johnny Ngo, president of Whale Spa and Skyline Beauty Supply, and was the first press conference for both men.

On March 31, Nguyen and Ngo reported that 75,000 masks and more than 280,000 gloves had been collected.

Already, at least one Orange County restaurateur and one orthodontist have made generous donations, and boxes have been sent to St. Jude Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and West Anaheim Medical Center.

“We’re all stretched. We all have work, and we all have families. But I love that a crisis like this amplifies kindness, and we do what we can,” says Nguyen, who once dreamed of being a medical doctor before pursuing leadership in his family’s company.

Have additional supplies to donate? The public may drop them off at Advance Beauty College locations: 10121 Westminster Ave. in Garden Grove or 25332 McIntyre St. in Laguna Hills.
