Alumni Board Launch Builds Momentum for CSUF Business Alumni Engagement

Posted September 08, 2026 by Daniel Coats

The inaugural Business Titans Alumni Board (BTAB) Summer Retreat brought alumni together for a collaborative and productive day on July 24 focused on shaping the new advisory board, strengthening connections and helping define the future of alumni engagement at the Cal State Fullerton College of Business and Economics.

During the retreat, board members discussed priorities and identified opportunities to advance alumni engagement across the college. Their input helped shape five key areas for future alumni programming: Titan Pride, alumni recognition, career support, networking and student success.

Multiple generations of Business Titans discussed ways for alumni to stay connected through professional development, alumni spotlights, company-hosted experiences, peer connections and family-friendly activities. They also examined areas for improvement in the alumni experience, from clearer communication about alumni resources to creating more pathways for graduates to stay involved with the Titan community.

“The event was an outstanding opportunity for group formation, connecting with fellow Business Titan grads, and planning for the future on how we can help the college develop strategic direction,” says Linh Nguyen ’98,’17, president of Advance Beauty College and co-chair of the new board who looks ahead to active participation and leadership. “I’m so looking forward to continuing to collaborate and grow our alumni connections to new heights.”

Board co-chair Joshua Gonzalez ’18, a leader of his family’s Northgate Market Mexican grocery chain, agreed the meeting was the first step in a new level of alumni involvement: “A great meeting and the start of something very exciting. There is a tremendous opportunity to bring our alumni together in a meaningful way and help shape an even stronger future for the college.”

Through open discussion and a shared commitment to the College of Business and Economics, the retreat helped establish momentum for the board’s next phase. Feedback was highly positive. Attendees described the day as meaningful, engaging, well organized and energizing. The enthusiasm sets a strong foundation for the board’s work ahead.
