The more than 43,000 students of Cal State Fullerton are represented through a student government known as Associated Students Inc. (ASI), which includes representatives from each of the eight colleges that make up the university.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, Samantha Ngo ’25 will represent the students of the College of Business and Economics, while also serving as the treasurer for ASI, overseeing a budget of millions of dollars used for student events, advocacy, support and outreach.

“I am deeply passionate about advocating for our business students, a commitment that began in my freshman year when I stepped into my very first leadership role as an Intern for the Business Inter-Club Council (BICC),” says Ngo. Before rising to university-wide leadership, Ngo served as Vice President of Finance of the BICC and concluded her tenure with the council as President.

Other campus involvements for Ngo included leadership in the Giles-O’Malley Center for Leadership, Women’s Leadership Program, Finance Association, and many more!

“As I concluded my term at BICC, I realized there was still more I wanted to contribute to our community. I wanted to conclude my undergraduate journey with a meaningful impact by becoming a board member on the ASI student government, which I had envisioned since I was a freshman.”

As a member of the Board of Directors, Ngo focuses on three main goals:

• Promote Student Engagement by ensuring the wide array of clubs, organizations and programs are visible and accessible to all business students.
• Strengthen Community Ties by working with the Business Inter-Club Council and college leadership to foster a strong and vibrant business college community that encourages collaboration and connection.
• Foster Leadership Development by inspiring greater student involvement in leadership opportunities at the business college.

Ngo’s goals as Treasurer focuses on the following three directions:

• Expand Scholarship Opportunities that are accessible to all students, thus reducing financial barriers.
• Promote Financial Transparency so that students and stakeholders are informed and engaged about what the student government is doing.
• Enhance Student Programs and Facilities, thus improving the overall College of Business and Economics and Cal State Fullerton student experience.

Serving as a student representative is incredibly fulfilling, says Ngo.

“I’m honored to work alongside fellow student leaders, all united by a shared vision to make a lasting impact on the CSUF community,” says Ngo. “Being surrounded by passionate, like-minded individuals empowers me to advocate not just for my college, but for our entire CSUF community.”
