What is the Leadership Scholars?

Leadership Scholars is a multiyear leadership development program created by the Mihaylo College Center for Leadership. The Leadership Scholars is designed to give business students both an academic and real-world view of leadership. The main components of the program include: monthly networking events, educational leadership, applied leadership, and mentoring opportunities with local OC executives. Past leadership scholars have received interviews and even job offers through connections made through the program. If you are looking for that something to make your resume stand out, you've found it.

Applying

Students are strongly recommended to join the Leadership Scholars early in their academic careers to take advantage of every opportunity the program has to offer; however, upperclassmen are also able to join if they are high achievers. The application deadline is rolling – so there is no need to stress. After applying, a member of the board will contact you to meet you in person.

How to apply: Please fill out the application and email back to [email protected]. Application forms are also available at CSUF Mihaylo's Center for Leadership (Room 5357). Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application in the program.

Requirements

As stated above, there are four core components of the Leadership Scholars. First, if you have been accepted into the program, you must attend two events a semester. Our events are exclusive to our members, meaning you get more one-on-one time with local executives. Second, over the course of your college career, you must complete an educational leadership component. This can take the form of completing Management 442, Management 443, or completing one track of the Student Leadership Institute program. Third, members must show applied leadership by taking a leadership role in a school, professional, or business organization throughout their college career. Fourth, as an added bonus, our members have the exclusive opportunity to be paired with a local executive in their field of choice to shadow for 20 hours over any semester once they become a junior and have started the educational leadership component.
