Entrepreneurial Factors: Demographics

Population growth from 2000-2010 has not seen major swings in any of the six counties in our peer group. However, Travis County has seen the strongest compounded growth rate for the last nine years. Los Angeles is clearly more populated than all other counties. Orange County ranked second in terms of total population in 2008. In addition, Orange County finds itself in the middle of the pack in terms of population growth.

Legal immigration was also looked at and noted that Los Angeles has the highest with Travis County coming in second. Orange County actually had a negative growth rate from 2000 to 2010. When looking at ethnicity we found that Travis County has the largest growth in ethnic population with all counties increasing in Asian and Hispanic/ Latino populations. Gender is still close to 50% men and women across each county and the number of veterans has declined in each county.
