Entrepreneurial Factors: Economic Data
The total employment number is a good indicator of the economic health of any county because it shows how much job growth there has been, if any. Take a look at the following data through 2007.
By looking at Table EC1 below it is easy to see that Los Angeles County has the highest number of total employment in our peer group while Orange County ranks second. This information shows us relative size as a point of reference.
What we found more important was the growth rate because it shows how much a county is growing relatively speaking. The growth rates that were looked at included: employment growth, establishments growth, compensation growth, and income growth. In every growth rate category but compensation Orange County trailed both San Diego County and Travis County.
