Associate Degree for Transfer
The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) is a two-year associate degree awarded by California Community Colleges that makes it easier for students to transfer to a CSU.
Below are important information and guidelines for students transferring with an ADT and community college counselors preparing students for transfer.
Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) Timelines
For Admissions purposes, students transferring with an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) must complete the degree two semesters prior to admission:
-
Fall transfer for admission, the ADT must be completed by the previous spring.
-
Spring transfer for admission, the ADT must be completed by the previous summer.
ADT Graduation Benefits - the university will honor degrees earned any time prior to transfer for students to receive the graduation benefits of earning an ADT within the major. The benefits are:
-
If you choose a similar/approved major, you will have no more than 60 units remaining to earn your bachelor’s degree (with the exception of American Government and American History if not already completed at the community college).
-
The lower-division business core courses will be waived. You will be eligible to declare an approved concentration and can advance to upper-division courses in your first semester at CSUF.
Admission Deadlines
If you are a transfer student transferring with an ADT, it is important to review and adhere to the deadlines as determined by the Office of Admissions.
You must meet all transcript deadlines and submit your final official transcript once your ADT degree has been posted .
Please note that community colleges usually do not post your ADT degree immediately following the semester you graduated; it can take several weeks. Therefore, make sure that your degree is posted before ordering your final official transcript.
This may mean you need to submit more than one official transcript, depending on when you are earning your degree, to meet admission deadlines.
Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) Status Definitions
You can view your ADT status at the top of your Titan Degree Audit (TDA).
In Progress
This status means the Office of Admissions received official verification from your community college that you are in progress of earning the ADT.
Verified
This status means the Office of Admissions received your final official transcript showing that you earned the ADT.
Incomplete ADT
This status means that you did not submit your official transcript showing that you have earned the ADT.
Canceled
If you apply to a major that is different from your ADT, choose a non-approved concentration, add a second concentration, a second major, minor, or certificate, your ADT status will be canceled.
-
For transfer students admitted prior to fall 2022 - this status means that the waiver of your lower-division business core courses is voided and you must complete any outstanding lower-division business core courses that you have not yet completed (refer to your Titan Degree Audit (TDA) for any remaining requirement). In addition, the university can no longer guarantee that you will only have 60 units remaining to earn your bachelor’s degree.
-
For transfer students admitted fall 2022 and after - this status means that the university can no longer guarantee that you will only have 60 units remaining to earn your bachelor’s degree but the waiver of your lower-division core is not voided unless you choose a non-approved concentration.
