Geoffrey Payne Bio
Geoffrey Payne is a principal of Tahiti Partners Properties Corp., a real estate development and asset management company. Mr. Payne holds real estate broker licenses in California and Oklahoma and is a member of the State Bar of California. He has also been acquiring, developing and managing real estate projects for over 40 years.
Mr. Payne has a Bachelor’s degree in finance and was employed for several years with a multinational company in various financial management and accounting positions. During that time, Mr. Payne obtained his juris doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and then practiced law for many years with a few significant law firms in Southern California and was a partner in a well-known Orange County, California law firm. As a lawyer, Mr. Payne represented banks, lenders, real estate developers, family trusts and other real estate and corporate interests.
Mr. Payne has been a partner or principal in more than 100 real estate projects including subdivisions of commercial and residential lots, and commercial and apartment projects, throughout the western United States, Texas and Oklahoma.
Mr. Payne has taught and spoken to many real estate groups including being a keynote and panel speaker for IREM, BOMA, and the State Bar of California and he has written several articles on commercial leases and commercial real estate transactions. He also created and has taught a popular class on investing in apartment buildings. In his capacities as an attorney, real estate broker and principal, he has handled the sale, purchases and financing of more than 40,000 apartment units and billions of dollars of other purchases, sales, financings and reorganizations of real estate. Mr. Payne has also been a successful negotiator and closer of at least $2.0 billion in distressed real estate transactions for his clients purchasing, selling and reorganizing real estate properties.
Mr. Payne has been active with many charitable and professional organizations and was a board member and two-term President of Cedar House, a center for abused children, a two-term member of the California State University, Fullerton, Business College’s Board of Governors, a three-term member of the Long Beach Grand Prix Foundation, and a board member of many other organizations including having held board positions of privately held companies. Mr. Payne is married and has three adult children. His hobbies are golf and the study of ancient history.
