Youth Economic Empowerment Program
The Center for Economic Education and U.S. Bank launched the Youth Individual Development Account (IDA) program where over 80 8th grade students from low income schools opened savings accounts in 2011. Each student saves $10 a month, the Center matches with $20 a month. This $20 dollars per month comes from a federal grant to the center and from U.S. Bank.
To provide financial literacy to the IDA participants, the Center for Economic Education director and staff conducted a one-week Financial Fitness Camp during the summer.
