Description:

This course introduces the information systems development life-cycle, from the initial stages of planning, to requirements analysis, to system design, using an object-oriented approach (for the most part). Thus, you will learn a core set of skills for managing IS projects, as well as for performing Systems Analysis and Design with basic Unified Modeling Language (UML).

Upon successful completion of the course you should possess valuable system analysis and design skills that will give you a competitive edge in many industry sectors, in a wide range of IS and project management positions.

Objectives:

This course provides a basic understanding of technical and managerial aspects of systems analysis and design projects. Students will learn:

· The system development life cycle (SDLC)

· Foundations of IS project management

· Analytical skills needed to examine situations, recognize problems, and design potential solutions.

· Fundamental concepts and object-oriented techniques of system analysis and design

· Design issues with emphasis on usability

 — See Sample Projects

 — Can system analysis & design rock? See System Analysis & Design - The Musical  - a(nother) critically acclaimed Fullerton based Broadway hit (to be)

Upon successful completion of the course, you are expected to be able to:

· Define the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in IS development projects.

· Plan and organize an information systems development project.

· Understand OO concepts

· Apply OO system analysis and design techniques to define and document information system requirements

· Apply systems analysis and design techniques to develop object-oriented models (UML diagrams) of information systems
