What : Teams of MBA students receive details of a bid to buy a fictional company and have one week to recommend a course of action to the judges acting as the company’s board of directors. Campus winners will advance to a regional competition.
Who : Students in the MBA program are eligible to participate in the Competition. Teams are approved by the College of Business & Economics.

Sponsor : Association for Corporate Growth, a professional organization for specialists in corporate growth and development, mergers and acquisitions.
When started : The Los Angeles chapter held the first ACG MBA Cup – since renamed ACG Cup-competition in 2005-2006. The Orange County Chapter introduced it to UC Irvine, Chapman University, and Cal State Fullerton in 2006-2007.
Goals : Give MBA students experience in finance and mergers an acquisitions, and give the association exposure to business schools and their MBA students.
Skills tested : Teamwork, ability to work under deadline, public presentation proficiency, adaptability when circumstances change, capacity to defend recommendations.
Prizes : Regional winner received $10,000: runners-up received $6,000, $4,000, or $1,000.
Future: Local association members will share their experiences with all 51 chapterd in May in the hope of establishing a nationwide competition.
