Concentration Electives
Procedures
Students admitted to the MS Accountancy, MS Information System or MS Taxation program will choose electives in consultation with the Concentration Exploration Advisor.
How do I choose my Concentration?
Step 1 – When to choose a concentration?
- Newly admitted students are required to submit a concentration approval form, in their first
semester, by the following deadlines:
- Newly Admitted Fall students: Submit by October 28th
- MA Economics students only: Submit by December 15th
- Newly admitted Spring students: Submit by April 1st
- MA Economics students only: Submit by May 15th
- If you need assistance determining which concentration is right for your professional goals please contact a Graduate Concentration Exploration Advisors
Courses taken and completed prior to approval may not be used as part of your study plan.

Contact the
Graduate Concentration Exploration Advisors
by email, phone, or schedule a meeting for a consultation.
- During your consultation the Graduate Concentration Exploration Advisor will provide you with guidance on what courses should be suitable for your professional goals.
- In addition, we offer the opportunity to travel abroad to Europe and earn 3 credits for an elective.
- Please keep in mind not all concentration courses may not be offered each semester. If a course on your concentration elective approval sheet is not offered during the semester you may change your concentration electives. Please see the section at the end of the page: How to change your concentration electives.
Step 3
– Prior to the consultation what is needed?

Download a
Concentration Elective approval form below:
- MA Economics (Dr. Purkayastha)
- MS in Accountancy Concentration Elective Form(Dr. Alali)
- MS in Information Systems Concentration Elective Form(Dr. Kapoor)
- MS in Information Systems with a concentration in Decision Sciences(Dr. Kapoor)
- MS in Taxation Concentration Elective Form (Dr. Chavis)
- All concentration courses must be approved by the Concentration Exploration Advisors or their designee. There are no specific lists of courses to choose from. Please use the University Catalog for a list of courses offered through the department.
- Each department has a list of classes, course descriptions, and schedules online: Accounting, Economics, and Information Systems & Decision.
- NOTE: Some programs allow you the opportunity to travel abroad to Europe and earn 3 credits for an elective (see Mktg599).
400-Level Course
The following courses as of May 2012 are not eligible for graduate credit and may not be used as electives:

Step 4 – What do I do during/after the consultation?

During:
Obtain a signature, from the Graduate Concentration Exploration Advisors, on the concentration elective approval form. -
After:
Send a copy, of the signed form, to the Enrollment Specialist either by email newadmit@fullerton.edu or you may drop off the form at the front desk in SGMH-4210.
NOTE: this email is for form submission only. All and any questions must be directed to your appropriate advisor.
How do I change the concentration elective form?
If at any time you need to make changes to your concentration elective courses, you must:
- Download a new concentration approval form.
- Obtain approval from the Graduate Concentration Exploration Advisors

Submit the
newly approved concentration elective approval form.
- The approved form must be submitted prior to enrolling and completing the courses.
- If you neglect to submit an update form you will not be able to use the completed course as part of your study plan.
- This process is same one that you followed the first time that you obtained approval for your concentration (see above).
