Procedures
New Procedures as of 10/12/2010
Students admitted to the MBA program may choose from eleven concentration areas to tailor their degree towards their professional, personal and educational goals. Concentrations are offered in the following areas: Accounting; Economics; Business Intelligence; Entrepreneurship; Finance; General; Information Systems; International Business; Management; Management Science; and Marketing.
How do I choose my Concentration Electives?
Step 1 – When do I choose my concentration electives?
- Newly admitted students are required to submit a concentration approval form, in their first
semester, by the following deadlines:
- Newly Admitted Fall students: Submit by October 28th
- Newly admitted Spring students: Submit by April 1st
- Concentration courses are offered less frequently then required courses. Picking your concentration elective courses within the first semester provides you with the opportunity to enroll in the courses as they are offered.
- Each department has a list of classes, course descriptions, and schedules online: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Decision Sciences, Management, Marketing.
Courses taken and completed prior to submitting the required form may not be used as part of your study plan.
Step 2 - How do I choose my concentration electives?
- Each Department has put together a list of pre-approved courses to choose from (with the exception of the Accounting concentration). The list is included on each individual concentration elective form.
-
- If you need assistance determining which concentration or elective is right for your professional and personal goals please contact a Graduate Concentration Exploration Advisors by email, phone, or schedule a meeting for a consultation.
- You may also participate in the Find Your Focus workshops held in September/October and March.
- Please keep in mind not all concentration
elective courses will be offered each semester.
If you need to make changes to your
concentration electives you must choose
alternative from the pre-approved lists.
- You are “not” required to resubmit a new form as long as the courses are included on the pre-approved list.
- MBA with Accounting Concentration must meet with your Career Exploration Advisor and obtain a signature before submitting the form. Details and instructions are found on the form.
- NOTE: Some concentrations allow you the opportunity to travel abroad to Europe and earn 3 credits for an elective (see Mktg599).
