Independent Study Research Elective (599) typically involves a student working with a faculty mentor. Students who want to collaborate and research with faculty may receive academic credit for research. To earn academic credit you must enroll in an Independent Study Research Elective. To enroll in a course you will need to:
- Meet with a Faculty Research Mentor in the area you are interested in doing research.
- Download an Independent Study Form from STEP 22 of your
Graduate Student Handbook (GSH)
- Obtain approval from a Faculty Research Mentor
Update Concentration Approval Sheet found in STEP 12 of
- Submit the signed and approved Independent Study Form and Concentration Approval Form to your Academic Advisor in SGMH4210.
NOTE: No more than six units of independent study may be applied to the study plan.
