MBA Concentration Electives Procedures

Students admitted to the FT MBA program may choose from several  concentration areas to tailor their degree towards their professional, personal and educational goals.

How do I choose my Concentration Electives?

Step 1 – When do I choose my concentration?

• Newly admitted students are required to submit a concentration approval form, by the end of the second week of the Mihaylo Leadership Academy in their first semester.

Courses taken and completed prior to submitting the required form may not be used as part of your study plan.

Step 2 - What concentration electives do I take?

• Each Department has put together a list of pre-approved courses for each concentration. The list is included on each individual concentration elective form. 
  • However, if you need assistance determining which concentration is right for your professional and personal goals please contact a Concentration Exploration Advisor by email, phone, or schedule a meeting for a consultation. 
    • In addition, there is an online resource O*NET OnLine which is your tool for career exploration and job analysis. There are detailed descriptions of the world of work for use by job seekers, workforce development and HR professionals, students, researchers, and more.
    • We have also, to assist you with finding your focus, created a video for each concentration where you can hear from experts in the field on reasons for selecting each concentration and what opportunities are out there for you based on your concentration choice. You will find each video under your concentration approval sheet below.

Step 3 – What forms should I submit?
 

• Download a Concentration Elective approval form from below:
  • MBA Cohort Concentration
    • (Daytime offering with your Cohort - recommended minimum of 20 students required)
• MBA Accounting Concentration
  • (open to students with a Business Degree and a concentration in Accounting)

Step 4 – How do I submit in my concentration elective approval form?
 

·            You will fill out your concentration elective approval form and submit a copy during the first two weeks of your Mihaylo Leadership Academy in your first semester in the program.  Your advisor will meet with your group to collect the forms during your 6th week in class.

How do I change to a different Concentration?

To request a change to your concentration you must do the following:
