Biography
Bonnie Paller, Ph.D., Director/Office of Academic Assessment and Program
Review, Dept. of Philosophy, California State University, Northridge
The Director/Office of Academic Assessment and Program Review provides
oversight and leadership for program, college and institution-level academic
assessment activities and initiatives. In the area of program review, we
oversee and coordinate program review from launch, through self-study to the
final MOU. Currently, Dr. Paller is engaged in the WASC re-accreditation
process, serving on the Data Group, on Theme 1: “Student Success through
Engagement in Learning” and arranged a WASC CPR visiting team meeting on
Assessment and Program Review.
As a member of the Department of Philosophy, she specializes in philosophy
of science, epistemology, and logic.
At CSU Northridge, departments/programs use annual assessment data in a variety of ways – including adding content modules to courses, changes in curriculum and course sequencing, changes to SLOs and assessment instruments. College-level assessment plans have developed as a result of evidence from program assessment and have made significant progress in the last two years. Some examples of department/program and college-level use of assessment data will be provided. The internal connection between assessment data and program review will be discussed. Finally, the WASC CPR team which recently visited asked for a meeting dedicated to Assessment and Program Review.
