Using Exit Interviews for Program Assessment 

 

The presentation will delve into the use of exit interviews for program assessment. The presenters will discuss different kinds of questions and formats for conducting exit interviews and what kinds of data they yield. They will discuss potential strengths and limitations of exit interviews, make suggestions for constructing the interviews (whether individual or group) and give tips for effective interviewing. Finally, they will share how the Interdisciplinary General Education Department at Cal Poly Pomona analyzes its collected data and uses it for program assessment.

Hend Gilli-Elewy, assistant professor, Interdisciplinary General Education Department, Cal Poly Pomona. I have a degree in Islamic Studies from the University of Cologne, Germany. Dr. Gilli-Elewy specializes in early and medieval Islam. Research interests have included early Islamic Slavery, social historical questions, court life, and the Mongol invasions.

 

 

Dr. Dennis Quinn

Dr. Dennis Quinn is Assistant Professor in the Interdisciplinary General Education Department at Cal Poly Pomona. He has been implementing exit interviews his courses for nearly a decade and has developed assessment techniques in all his courses.  Dr. Quinn earned his PhD in Religion from Claremont Graduate University.
