Personal

I was born in Kanagawa and raised in Saitama, Japan.  I studied business and commerce at Keio University, one of the oldest universities in Tokyo. In my junior year, I studied Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  This experience motivated me to attend a graduate Economics program in the US. After obtaining my BA from Keio in March of 2000, I moved to Charlottesville to start graduate school at the University of Virginia

In July 2006, I defended my dissertation at UVA and moved to Southern California to start my new career as an assistant professor of Economics at California State University Fullerton.   Even though Fullerton is very different from Charlottesville, Cal State Fullerton and UVA share something in common: the school colors of CSUF and UVA are both orange and blue!

My research and teaching keep me very busy, but when I am not working, I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, trail running, playing with my dog, Teddy Bear, and composing music.
