Additional information

Applications are accepted starting August 1st for the following spring semester and starting October 1st for the following fall semester. Early application allows time for receipt of transcripts and evaluation of undergraduate work; however, applications should not be sent before the above dates. Applications will be accepted as long as possible; however, to allow proper evaluation, the university does stop accepting applications prior to the start of each semester.

If applications are closed for the M.A. in Economics for the semester in which you wish to enroll, you may apply for admission as a post baccalaureate unclassified student with no major and no degree objective. Admission as a post baccalaureate unclassified student does not constitute admission to the Economics program, nor does it guarantee future admission. However, it does enable such students to take undergraduate courses which will fulfill departmental admission requirements. Selected graduate courses may also be taken with the consent of the graduate adviser. Students wishing to apply for admission to the M.A. in Economics for the following semester must file a change of objective form with Admissions and Records.

Note: Special application deadlines apply to international students. Additional information on application as an international student is available through the campus Admissions and Records Office, Langsdorf Hall 111, (657) 278-2371. Students may also go to international admissions website or to international office website for further information.

Application Status

The admissions office will verify the authenticity of your transcripts, your academic status at your previous academic institutions, and check whether you satisfy the CSUF minimum GPA requirement (2.5 in last 60 semester units or last 90 quarter units). Your file will then be transferred to the economics department for further review. This process takes time.

The admissions office will send you your CSUF ID and a PIN number. To check your status, please emailecsgrad@fullerton.edu.

GRE Test Information

Applicants must take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) no later than December if applying for spring admission and no later than June if applying for fall admission. Although applicants may apply to the M.A. Economics program prior to taking the GRE and/or prior to receiving test results, applications are not complete until GRE scores are received. Scores are usually mailed six to eight weeks after the test date.

Test preparation courses for the GRE are offered by CSU Fullerton and by other organizations. Applicants may also prepare for the test by studying the GRE test preparation materials available through most bookstores.

For further information about the CSUF test preparation course, contact the Extended Education Office, College Park, Suite 100, (657)278-2611.
