This annual award recognizes outstanding academic achievement and
demonstrated intellectual growth and development.
Criteria: Academic achievement based substantially on GPA and other
evidence of academic achievement.
Economics Wall Street Journal Student Award

Amount: One years subscription to the WSJ plus an engraved gift from
WSJ
Open to: Economics majors
This annual award recognizes academic performance and extra-curricular
activities.
Criteria: Academic performance and Extra-curricular activities
Formuzis-Pickersgill-Hunt Student Paper Award
Amount: First Prize $500, Second Prize $300, Third Prize $200
Open to: All undergraduate students enrolled in an economics class or an
economics major. This award is funded by two Emeriti Professors of
Economics and is intended to encourage and reward the writing of
original papers on economic issues, problems, or policies.
Criteria: The paper must contain a rigorous analytical or empirical
defense of a thesis or investigation of a problem of interest to
economists. See department office for the format of the paper.

Murray Wolfson Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1000
Open to: Graduate student in Economics
This scholarship is instituted by the Department of Economics to honor
the memory of Professor Murray Wolfson, a distinguished teacher and
scholar who exemplified a high commitment to graduate teaching and
scholarly research throughout his life.
Criteria: This memorial scholarship will be awarded to a graduate
student in Economics with the best performance (highest GPA above 3.75)
in the four core courses in the MA Economics program. The scholarship
seeks to reward and to encourage the graduate student who shows the
greatest potential for success in the MA program.
Economics Faculty Student Achievement Award
Amount: First award given (May, 2000) was $200 plus an engraved gift

This annual award reflects the Departments recognition of outstanding
academic achievement and performance with distinction in the
classroom.

Norman Townshend-Zellner Award

Zellner Award Recipients
Amount: $300
Open to: All Economics Majors
The Norman-Townshend-Zellner Award is offered each year in recognition
of outstanding student service. Named in honor of Professor Norman
Townshen-Zellner, the first Chair of the Economics Department and
founder of the Center of Economics Education, this award is open to all
junior and senior-level students in the economics major.
Criterion: Outstanding Student Service
Levern Graves Award
Amount: $300
Open to: All Econ Majors
The Levern Graves Award is offered each year in honor of Professor
Levern Graves, one of the founding members of the Economics Department.
All junior-level students in the economics major are invited to apply.
The award recognizes a combination of outstanding scholarship in the
classroom and service to the department.

The Emeriti Faculty and Staff Award
Amount: $100
Open to: Senior Economics Majors
The Emeriti Faculty and Staff Award is offered each year in recognition
of academic achievement, leadership, and service. Named in honor of all
of the dedicated faculty and staff who have served within the Economics
Department, this award is open to all senior-level students in the
economics major.

Stewart Long Graduate Study Award I
Amount: $1,500
Established by: This scholarship was established in honor of
Professor Stewart Long, former Chair of the Economics Department to
encourage post-graduate study in Economics, or related disciplines such
as Law.

Klein Family Awards
Amount: $50
Open to: Students in Economics 330 or Economics 332
The Klein Family awards were established by Emeritus professor Sidney
Klein in honor of his family. One award recognizes the outstanding
undergraduate student each year in Economics 330 (Comparative Economics
Systems) and the other award recognizes the outstanding student in
Economics 332 (Economics of Pacific Rim).
Criteria: Grade A in Economics 330 or Economics 332. Other evidence of
academic achievement in Economics 330 or Economics 332
