It is time for you to get involved! The Center welcomes your participation and help. Volunteers are needed in the classroom to help mentor students with their business plans. Or, consider speaking in class about your own success story or expertise. Better yet, hire a student consulting group to work with your firm to make it more profitable. It is time to get involved.
Our program desires the support of entrepreneurs, business executives, investors, and bankers who want to mentor our students in the classroom. Our classes are in the evenings and volunteers will meet with the students an average of eight times a semester. If you have interest in applying that experience to a mentoring relationship, please contact John Bradley Jackson, Director at jjackson@fullerton.edu or call (657) 278-8413.
The Center seeks business owners and business executives who can tell their story to the students. Rather than a speech or a lecture, our “real life” entrepreneurs bring a personal perspective to entrepreneurship that a textbook cannot begin to tell. If you are interested in being a speaker, please contact Travis Lindsay, Administrative Coordinator at (657) 278-3930 or tlindsay@fullerton.edu.
Every semester the University invites industry executives and entrepreneurs to give a lecture as “Professor of the Day”. Please contact Travis Lindsay, Administrative Coordinator at (657) 278-3930 or tlindsay@fullerton.edu.
The Center offers strategic consulting to businesses looking to take their firms to the next level. We assist our clients by helping them identify where they would like to take their business and providing direction on how to get there.
The Small Business Institute (SBI) at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) is hosted by the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics (MCBE) and is managed by the College's Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE). The purpose of the SBI is to strengthen the small business sector of Orange County's free enterprise system through increasing the effectiveness and impact of small business teaching, consultation, and research at the University.
The principal way the SBI does this is by offering student consulting to smaller, fast growth businesses in Orange County. The students are MBA students or graduating seniors majoring in business. The students form consulting teams and work like apprentices, closely supervised by a select group of experienced faculty experts.
In addition, many undergraduate teams are coached by volunteers -- Entrepreneurs in Residence, Executives in Residence, and members of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). Faculty grades students on the practical results they achieve for the client. It is a win-win process where all involved gain a better appreciation of what it takes to succeed in Orange County's challenging small business arena.
The SBI is a non-profit program, mandated to be self-supporting. To continue this award winning outreach, our program relies on affordable client fees, donations from alums, community entrepreneurs, and supporters of entrepreneurship. In addition, volunteers serve our organization by giving of their valuable time and energy.
