Joe Moderow '70

Joseph R. Moderow had been Senior Vice President and Group Manager of Legal & Public Affairs of United Parcel Service Inc.

From 1986 to January 1, 2004. Mr. Moderow had been prior member of Executive Committee and a Director of United Parcel Service Inc. since 1988. He began his United Parcel Service Inc. career in 1968 as a sorter and unloader in the South California District while an undergraduate student. He earned a bachelor’s Degree in Economics from California State University and a law degree from Western State University. He is a member of the State Bar of California. He was promoted into supervision in 1973 and later served as the Arizona District Industrial Engineering Manager. In 1977, he was assigned to the National Legal & Regulatory Group. In 1982, He became the West Virginia District Manager. He then was assigned to the National Labor Relations Group and later headed the operations team during the start-up of international air service. In 1986, Joe was named Legal & Regulatory Group Manager and elected Senior Vice President and Secretary. He assumed additional responsibility for Public Affairs in 1989.

Joseph R. Moderow was recently presented the 2008 Horatio Alger Award and inducted as a lifetime member of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans during ceremonies in Washington, D.C.
