With a the mission to "Ignite Sales Careers" for all CSUF students, students connected to Sales Leadership Center have had the opportunity to participate in workshops, training sessions, scholarships, career fairs, internships and and job searches.
Obtaining my education at Cal State Fullerton has given me the foundation I needed in Business to be successful in my career. As a student I was highly involved with the Latino Business Student Association where I held various positions and was able to establish a professional network. I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. Upon graduation I was able to secure a full time position with Nestle USA in their Emerging Markets Division as a Retail Sales Representative. After two years I accepted a position with Tampico Beverages as a Region Manager, and now I am currently an Account Business Manager at Colgate Palmolive.
I have always strived to maintain a competitive edge and excel in my field. I knew I had found a great resource and amazing tools after visiting the Sales Leadership Center's website. I highly recommend anyone in any field to take these courses since we are all selling everyday to everyone, whether it be an idea to your boss or client, or the reason why you should go to the movies instead of dinner to one of your friends. All the people involved in the Sales Leadership Center have become an integral part of networking with the right people since I was able to get six job offers through the program. Not too shabby for attending a few fun and interactive classes on Saturday mornings. I invite everyone in Mihaylo and CSUF to attend these classes and meet the great people involved with the center.
"Overall, the Sales Leadership Center has provided me with priceless opportunities to find my passion for selling. I began by taking the weekend workshops to explore more curiosity for sales skills and what selling has to offer. These workshops gave me the courage to try out for the Sales Team competing in the Western Collegiate States Sales Competition at Chico State both April 2012 and 2013. CSUF offers many opportunities to exercise your leadership skills and gain valuable knowledge within the classroom. However, the Sales Leadership Center takes it to the next level by providing students with the opportunity for real like experience that makes you so much more valuable to potential employers (while having fun along the way)."
I enjoyed my time at Cal State Fullerton. I sometimes wish that I had used all the resources to it’s full potential from when I first started to the end when I graduated. There are so many different groups, professors, and fellow colleagues with whom students can network with to help jumpstart a career path. I was fortunate to find my current position through one of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics marketing events. Currently, I am a Retail Sales Representative for Nestle.
Any college student can agree, that ultimate goal is to graduate with a degree that will add success and happiness to our future. When I entered CSUF, I still wasn't decided on what I wanted to be, and reaching that goal seemed very far away. However, once I became involved in the Sales Leadership Center, my horizons quickly expanded, and I found myself really liking sales. I was eager to continue to learn about sales, which lead me to participating in the Western Collegiate States Sales Competition. Whether it be the competitive spirit of the competition, or the adrenaline rush of closing a sale, the Western Collegiate States Sales Competition further solidified my desire to be in sales. Through this event, I was able to make a lot of business connections, as well as being given a summer internship opportunity with one of the companies involved known as, TEKsystems. I'm looking forward to continuing my path of sales this summer, and I am excited for what is in store.
"CSUF Career Center was of great help in preparing myself to enter the labor market. The education I received prepared me for what has been an exciting professional sales career. I joined Nestle USA as a Sales Representative calling on grocery stores in the greater Los Angeles area. After working in the position, Nestle provided the opportunity for career advancement where I was promoted to a Junior Account Manager and later to an Account Manager calling on retail grocery headquarters throughout Southern California and later to the greater Chicago based market."
My experiences at Cal State Fullerton have definitely prepared me to succeed at Stanley Black and Decker. I have to commend the CSUF staff and faculty for molding me into a future leader. The Professors have a way of building up your confidence through there curriculum and they challenge you to always do your best. This was one of the driving factors that made me want to come back as a Leader Recruiter at CSUF because I know that the Business School is one of the best in the country. I have been with Stanley Black and Decker for 15 years and has been my only job since graduating from CSUF. I have worked on both coasts and have managed a $75 million dollar territory and most recently managed the DeWalt Industrial Training Program on the west coast. I look forward to the continued relationship with the Business School to ensure that we continue to bring talented Titans to Stanley Black & Decker.
