Mona Cheren, author of Useful Idiots: How Liberals Got It Wrong in the Cold War and Still Blame America First, appeared recently on the Fox News Channel to discuss her new book. Her book’s title originated with a description (attributed to Lenin) of Western apologists for the Soviet Union. After Dari Alexander’s February 22, 2003 Fox News Channel interview with “pro-democracy” Alireza Jafarzadeh, National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCR), it is obvious that someone needs to write a sequel to Mona’s book with a title such as: Republican Useful Idiots: How Dupes Claiming to be Conservative Republicans Promoted and Accepted Contributions from a Saddam Hussein-backed, Marxist, Terrorist organization with Headquarters in Iraq and with an Office in the National Press Building in Washington, D.C.. On June 8, 1995, five members of Congress held a press conference to discuss a May 30 letter of support for the NCR to President Clinton signed by 202 members of Congress: (1) Robert Torricelli (2) James Traficant (3) Gary Ackerman (4) Dan Burton (5) Bob Ney. After the State Department and others documented the duping of these members of Congress, some Democrats and Republicans admitted their errors. During a September 2000 NCR rally outside the United Nations, then-Senator (now Attorney General) John Ashcroft’s statement of solidarity with NCR became an important part of Senator Torricelli’s rally for the NCR. After you contact some “conservative Republican” members of Congress to learn if they still support a Marxist takeover in Iran, you might learn that some of the worst enemies of America do not live in the Middle East.
